About the owners

Kay and Becky, owners of Almond Hill House

Kay and Becky

We are a creative mother and daughter duo, changing our lives and having an adventure!

Kay, mother, a retired artist from near Stratford-upon-Avon, relishes in making a house and garden a welcoming and cosy home. Becky, daughter, has lived in Amsterdam for almost 20years working as a Graphic Designer and cannot wait to use all of her passions and interests in a totally different way. Together, with a cat, we flew off to Southern Spain at the very end of September 2023 and have got immersed in refreshing everywhere.

We look forward to welcoming you, as rental guests, to this magical place we are delighted to call home. We are always available for any questions and booking enquires.

Sustainability

Water

Water is very precious. We kindly ask that you do not leave taps running or have overly long showers, and only put the dishwasher and washing machines on when they are full.

We have lovely tasting drinking water straight from the tap so there is no need to buy bottled water.

Recycling

Separate bins are provided for plastic, tins, glass, and paper which can be disposed of nearby at the recycling bins.

We prefer that cling film and multiple plastic bags are not used. We have reduced our usage by not using bin liners in the bathrooms and by providing many containers for the fridge, for instance. We only use bio-degradable bin liners for the kitchen bin.

Environment

We aim to provide a luxurious yet simple experience that respects fauna and flora and the historic 200 year old cortijo with a peaceful and homely immersion into a rural Southern Spanish lifestyle.

Cleaning

We are conscious of not using damaging chemicals and choose Eco products where we can. We do not use bleach because of possible damage to the enzyme balance in the septic tank. Our floors are steam-cleaned to sanitise without the use of harmful chemicals. Our towels are made from sustainable bamboo, as well as, our toilet paper from Who Gives A Crap! who donate 50% of their profits to clean water and sanitation non-profit organisations.

Organic

Our land has been nurtured over the years with only natural products. We are as near as can be to Organic produce, have not begun to apply for organic classification for the olives – but they are!
